New Kodiak Mountain Stone showroom in Lethbridge AB

In the spring of 2011 at Kodiak Mountain Stone, we made the choice to follow our decision to open our own store in Calgary AB and open another store in Lethbridge AB.  This decision was based on the fact that we felt we needed to be more involved in the sales and marketing of our products in our home area.  Another factor was that we had also expanded our product lines to include more than just our own manufactured stone.  We also added natural stone, brick and stucco to our offerings.

So when we made the decision for Lethbridge we changed our existing warehouse location into a showroom and warehouse which worked for us...kind of.  Actually, it wasn't very good.  We had a great warehouse, but it didn't work for a showroom.  The setup was wrong, it was hard to find and we had no store front.

But things changed in the past couple of weeks.  We were able to get into another property down the road form our existing warehouse at 2620 2 Ave North in Lethbridge.  It's going to take a while to get everything in but we've got a good start on our Kodiak Mountain Stone sample wall.

This will be our wall of Kodiak Mountain Stone samples

Looking good
The manufactured stone samples will be done shortly.  The look great and our customers love them!  We've started on the natural stone samples and will be starting the brick samples in about a week.  Soon we will also start our acrylic stucco sample wall.

We are going to have an incredible design centre and look forward to having many customers using it to plan their projects.

Where to Find Kodiak Mountain Stone online

Back in 2005, in the first days of Kodiak Mountain Stone, we had a small manufacturing facility, a small office and a simple website www.KodiakMountain.com
Since that time we have grown into a much larger production facility, have a great team of dealers (http://kodiakmountain.com/dealer.htm), have multiple offices and retail locations in Lethbridge AB, Calgary AB, Cardston AB and Springville UT.  Not only that, our product offering has gone from our manufactured stone to also include natural stone, brick and stucco products.

Another area that we have grown significantly is on the web.

www.KodiakMountain.com is our main website and where you can find most of the information you need when it comes to Kodiak Mountain Stone.  But below are some (not all) of the other sites you can find more great information about our company and products:

If you have used our product we would love to have you give us a great testimonial as well. (of course if you had any problems we want to hear from you too, please email me directly at jeff@kodiakmountain.com)

Stone Work for Patios and Back Yards

Earlier this spring Kodiak Mountain Stone helped out Aztec Masonry at the Lethbridge AB Home & Garden show.  Aztec had an incredible display there and we helped out by supplying the Ready Stack (Chardonnay colour) that was used on the walls.

My parents attended the home & garden show and were inspired by Aztec's display.  This summer my brother developed this project for them.  It's a patio that comes off the back of their house and they used our Ready Stack (Almond Buff colour) on the back walls.  Turned out great!

50 Years in the Industry! Wow!

In Lethbridge AB there is a masonry company named RR Masonry that has been using our Kodiak Mountain Stone product for a few years.  RR Masonry is a father son operation owned by Wayne & Cayle Roszell.
Recently I found out that 2011 was a year that Wayne had been looking forward to, it was his 50th year in the industry.  Yesterday I was proud to present Wayne with a plaque we made for him in recognition of his accomplishment.

Great to see that Wayne was wearing a Kodiak Mountain Stone T-Shirt when I showed up un-expectantly to present him with the plaque!

Stone & Brick Combinations

One trend that we have seen picking up more and more over the past few years is the combination of brick and stone.  This has become common with both our Kodiak Mountain Stone manufactured stone and our Kodiak Mountain Stone natural stone.

To visit a gallery of our manufactured stone, natural stone and brick go to:  http://gallery.kodiakmountain.com/

Here is a great picture of a house with our Kodiak Mountain Stone Cut Fieldstone in the Quarry color combined with some of our Cherokee Brick.

Blending Different Stones Together

Recently I had a close friend come and talk to me about putting Kodiak Mountain Stone on their house.  Their original design for their house had plans for manufactured stone, but when they built they just used siding.  What I liked most about this job is that they didn't know what style of stone they wanted to put on their house.  So I asked them if they would trust me to make the decision for them.  Lucky for me, it turned out great and everyone loves it!

Rather than just choose one of our stone products I had them blend three different styles together.
45% Villa Stone
45% Shadow Ledge
10% Cut Fieldstone
The color we chose was Almond Buff

I think that it turned out great and we have heard a lot of positive comments on the job.

Around the window they used trim stones with a keystone at the top.  Under the window they used our 18" sills

The next picture is from a customer who saw the house above and loved the stone.  Since they are both in the same community though they didn't want to copy it identically so they changed the ratios.  This job turned out great as well!

A small change in the blend ratios and a little different style of installation can create a unique look

Both jobs looked great!
Thanks to both families!
