At Kodiak Mountain Stone we have been happy to bring on some other product lines and suppliers over the past year.  It has been a great way to expand our service and help our customers.  We now have great lines of manufactured stone, natural stone, brick, Concrete Fencing and acrylic stucco.

I will continue to blog about Kodiak Mountain Stone because it's so much a part of my life and something that is always on my mind.  I love the company and the team we have put together.  But after having this blog for a while I decided that I needed someone on our team to take some ownership of our company blog and give it a little more focus than I was.  So thanks to Wes, we now have an official company blog for Kodiak Mountain Stone.

There is another new blog that means a lot to me as well.  A few months ago my wife and I began the long process of adopting a baby boy from the DR Congo (Africa).  Our family is so excited!  As of right now we are #13 on the waiting list with the orphanage.  My oldest daughter asked us if she could come with us when we go to Africa to pick him up.  The trip will be quite expensive and we told her so.  But we also said that if she made the money herself we would let her come with us.  She has a bit of her dad in her with her entrepreneurial spirit.  Rather than taking that as a "no" she got to work.  She decided that not only would she make enough money to join us on the trip, she was going to take a portion of everything she makes and give it to her little brothers orphanage.  Check out her blog to see what she is doing and thanks in advance to anyone who can give her any support!

One trend that we have seen picking up more and more over the past few years is the combination of brick and stone.  This has become common with both our Kodiak Mountain Stone manufactured stone and our Kodiak Mountain Stone natural stone.

Blending Different Stones Together

Recently I had a close friend come and talk to me about putting Kodiak Mountain Stone on their house.  Their original design for their house had plans for manufactured stone, but when they built they just used siding.  What I liked most about this job is that they didn't know what style of stone they wanted to put on their house.  So I asked them if they would trust me to make the decision for them.  Lucky for me, it turned out great and everyone loves it!

Rather than just choose one of our stone products I had them blend three different styles together.

45% Villa Stone

45% Shadow Ledge

10% Cut Fieldstone

The color we chose was Almond Buff

I think that it turned out great and we have heard a lot of positive comments on the job.

Around the window they used trim stones with a keystone at the top.  Under the window they used our 18" sills

The next picture is from a customer who saw the house above and loved the stone.  Since they are both in the same community though they didn't want to copy it identically so they changed the ratios.  This job turned out great as well!
